Frequently Asked Questions

What are Alternate Predictions?

Acme provides our best forecast, but we also embrace the fact that forecasts are often wrong. To do this, we present Alternative Predictions that show the range of possible outcomes. When the outcomes are similar, you can have greater confidence that the forecast is accurate, helping you make more informed weather-related decisions.

Why is the daily precipitation percentage so high when the hourly precipitation value is so low?

It’s just how the math works. Any given hour (or other time period) might have a small chance of rain, but the odds that it will rain at any time during the day will be higher. More hours, more chances!

Where do you get your forecast data from?

The list of the data sources that go into our model can be found here.

What countries are you available in?

Acme is currently available in the United States (including Hawaii, Alaska, and Puerto Rico) and Canada.

Why isn't the location showing the correct address?

Check that Acme has permission to use your location in your phone’s settings: Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > Acme Weather.

Why am I getting notifications for the wrong location?

How do I set a Favorite Location?

Tap the star that appears to the right on your list of recent locations.

Do I have to set my location services to “Always” allow for Acme Weather?

No. However, you won’t receive notifications for your exact location without "Always" access (we will only send notifications for set locations or the most recent location you shared with us).

What do the arrows mean on the precipitation map?

The arrows show which direction the storm system is moving — basically, where the weather’s heading next.

What do the colors mean on the precipitation map?

The colors represent intensity; blue is less intense, yellow is medium intensity, and orange or red is very intense.
